[FWO] Oproep | Call KickCancer Clinical Investigator Grants

Op initiatief van KickCancer, een stichting van openbaar nut met als missie kinderen met kanker te genezen, zullen in 2026 maximaal twee KickCancer Clinical Investigator Grants (KCIG) worden toegekend op het gebied van de pediatrische hemato-oncologie in België.

De KCIG staan open voor fundamenteel of translationeel onderzoek evenals voor actieve deelname aan internationale klinische proeven. De KCIG zijn bedoeld om clinici toe te laten de helft van hun werktijd te besteden aan onderzoeksactiviteiten in de pediatrische hemato-oncologie en om een vervanger te voorzien voor hun klinische taken.

Kandidaten moeten arts zijn, in dienst bij een ontvankelijke organisatie en vanaf de start van het mandaat minstens 80% FTE werken. Daarnaast moeten zij gespecialiseerd zijn in hemato-oncologie of aansluiten bij de BSPHO. In aanmerking komende instellingen zijn Belgische universitaire ziekenhuizen met een erkende dienst pediatrische hemato-oncologie. KCIG-mandaten kunnen niet gecombineerd worden met de fundamenteel klinische mandaten van het FWO.

On the initiative of KickCancer, a foundation of public interest whose mission is to cure children with cancer, a maximum of 2 KickCancer Clinical Investigator Grants (KCIG) will be awarded in 2026 in the field of paediatric haemato-oncology in Belgium.

The KCIG are open to basic or translational research, as well as active participation in international clinical trial groups. The KCIG are designed to allow clinicians to devote half of their working time to research activities in paediatric haemato-oncology and to provide a substitute to carry out their clinical duties.

 Applicants must be medical doctors employed by an eligible organisation and work at least 80% FTE from the start of the mandate. In addition, they must be specialized in haemato-oncology or become affiliated with the BSPHO. Eligible institutions are Belgian university hospitals with a recognised paediatric haemato-oncology department. KCIG mandates cannot be combined with FWO senior clinical investigator fellowships.
