[FWO][PRIJS] AstraZeneca Foundation en FWO reiken drie wetenschappelijke prijzen uit | AstraZeneca Foundation and FWO will grant in 2026 three scientific awards
Op initiatief van de AstraZeneca Foundation, reiken het Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlaanderen (FWO) en het Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique-FNRS (F.R.S.-FNRS) in 2026 drie wetenschappelijke prijzen uit, elk ter waarde van € 25.000.
De Scientific Award AstraZeneca Foundation in Cancer as a Systemic Disease: Insights on Organ Crosstalk ter bekroning van wetenschappelijk onderzoek dat de systemische kenmerken van kanker en de communicatienetwerken tussen organen ontrafelt, die tumorinitiatie, -progressie, organotropisme/metastase, behandelingsrespons/-resistentie en met kanker geassocieerde aandoeningen beïnvloeden.

De Scientific Award AstraZeneca Foundation in Multi-Omics for Routine Risk Stratification and Prevention ter bekroning van wetenschappelijk onderzoek dat geïntegreerde multi omics tools ontwikkelt, valideert en vertaalt voor schaalbare risicostratificatie, vroege detectie en preventie in de routinematige zorg, onder meer via integratie met klinische/EHR gegevens, beeldvorming en het opbouwen van digitale fenotypes.

De Scientific Award AstraZeneca Foundation in Zoonoses and Climate Change as Emerging Threats to Human Health ter bekroning van wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar het ontstaan van pathogenen, reservoirs, overdracht tussen soorten en evolutie, het voorspellen van uitbraken en interventiestrategieën binnen het One Health surveillanceconcept, in het bijzonder in de context van klimaatverandering en de impact daarvan op de menselijke gezondheid, onder meer via veranderingen in de verspreiding van vectoren.

De prijs zal toegekend worden aan een gevestigde onderzoeker als erkenning voor hun eerder gepresteerde werk, rekening houdende met de eventuele perspectieven die het werk in de toekomst aan dit domein kan bieden.
Aanvragen moeten ten laatste op 4 mei 2026 ingediend worden per e-mail naar prijzen@fwo.be. Het formulier en reglement zijn beschikbaar op de FWO website.

On the initiative of the AstraZeneca Foundation, the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) and the Fund for Scientific Research (F.R.S.-FNRS) will grant in 2026 three scientific awards, amounting to € 25.000 each.
The Scientific Award AstraZeneca Foundation in Cancer as a Systemic Disease: Insights on Organ Crosstalk in recognition of innovative scientific research that elucidates systemic hallmarks of cancer and inter-organ communication networks shaping tumor initiation, progression, organotropism/metastasis, treatment response/resistance, and cancer-associated conditions.

The Scientific Award AstraZeneca Foundation in Multi-Omics for Routine Risk Stratification and Prevention in recognition of innovative scientific research that develops, validates, and translates integrated multi omic tools for scalable risk stratification, early detection, and prevention in routine care, including through integration with clinical/EHR, imaging, and building digital phenotypes.

The Scientific Award AstraZeneca Foundation in in Zoonoses and Climate Change as Emerging Threats to Human Health in recognition of innovative scientific research on pathogen emergence, reservoirs, cross-species transmission and evolution, outbreak prediction and intervention strategies under the concept of One Health surveillance, particularly in the context of climate change and its impact on human health, including through changes in vector dissemination.

The prize is intended to reward an established investigator on the basis of their previous work, with a perspective of future development in the same field.
