[KCE] KCE Trials 2026 calls - deadline 22 September 2026
Het Federaal Kenniscentrum voor de Gezondheidszorg (KCE) lanceert vier nieuwe oproepen voor financiering van klinische studies:
KCE Trials 2026 - Comparative effectiveness call
Deze oproep financiert klinische studies waarin twee behandelingsopties worden vergeleken (waarbij 'geen behandeling' een van de mogelijke behandelingsopties is) die in de klinische praktijk voor een bepaalde indicatie al in gebruik zijn, maar nog niet voldoende met elkaar werden vergeleken. Het type interventie binnen de scope van deze oproep beperkt zich niet enkel tot geneesmiddelen of medische hulpmiddelen, maar omvat ook psychotherapie, dieet-/life-style interventies, diagnostische testen of heelkundige ingrepen.

KCE Trials 2026 - Drug repurposing call
Deze oproep financiert klinische studies naar de herbestemming van geneesmiddelen, waarbij een nieuwe indicatie voor een geneesmiddel waarvan het patent is verlopen, wordt onderzocht.

KCE Trials
KCE Trials is een nationaal financieringsprogramma gericht op pragmatische gerandomiseerde multicentrische klinische studies die relevante vragen inzake klinische doeltreffendheid en kosteneffectiviteit beantwoorden. De studies moeten van groot maatschappelijk belang zijn in België en mogen geen commerciële doelstelling hebben.

Er wordt een online informatiesessie georganiseerd door het KCE op donderdag 4 juni 2026, 10:00-12:00 uur. Inschrijven kan via trials@kce.fgov.be
Ondersteuning door HIRUZ
Onderzoekers van U(Z)Gent met een onderzoeksvoorstel zullen, net zoals vorige jaren, de steun van de Clinical Trial Unit (CTU) van het Health, Innovation and Research Institute (HIRUZ) krijgen om de voorgestelde klinische studie in te dienen en uit te voeren. The Belgian Health Care Knowledge Centre (KCE) launches four new calls for clinical trials:
KCE Trials 2026 - Comparative effectiveness call
In this call, studies comparing two treatment options (with ‘no treatment’ being one of the possible treatment options) that are already in use in clinical practice for a given indication, but are not yet sufficiently directly compared (i.e. which of the two treatment options works best in daily practice) are funded. Accepted study interventions are not limited to drugs or medical devices, but also include a broad range of interventions, such as psychotherapy, dietary interventions, diagnostic tests, surgery, or ways to deliver health care.

In this call, drug repurposing studies investigating a new indication for an off-patent drug are funded.

KCE Trials
KCE Trials is a national funding programme focusing on pragmatic, randomized, multicentric clinical studies that are of high societal importance in Belgium and have no direct commercial purpose. The studies should contribute to better patient care, show clear value for money, and should have the potential for return on investment.

Support of HIRUZ
Investigators from U(Z)Gent with a research proposal will have the support of the Clinical Trial Unit (CTU) of Health, Innovation and Research Institute (HIRUZ) to submit and perform the proposed clinical trial.
