The BHA (Bibliography of the History of Art) is a bibliographical database that contains publications about European and American visual art, published between 1975 and 2007.

This database is freely accessible.

Search Operators

• You can use the Boolean operators AND OR NOT.
• In the Advanced search mode you can specify in which field the search parameter must appear, as well as the publication date (also in a 'range', if needed).
• ? replaces 0, 1 or more characters.
• If you want to search for an exact phrase, enclose it in quotation marks, e.g. "american impressionism".
• You can refine your search results with the menu on the left, e.g. based on the subject, title of the publication or language.

Export

Click on … in the right upper corner of the result to select an option from the menu 'Show actions options'.

• to create a copy/paste citation, select 'Citation'. You can choose between different citation styles.
• to export to EndNote, select 'Endnote Web.'
• to export a RIS file to the bibliographic software of your choice, select 'RIS'.

When you use Zotero, use the browser plugin. You can select the results (if there’s more than one) you would like to add.
